Exciting News: Sports Podiatry Now Available in Braeside

We're thrilled to announce that specialised sports podiatry services are now available at Verde Fitness Studio! Starting February 1st, I'll be offering expert foot and lower limb care right here in the gym, making it easier than ever to address pain, prevent injuries and optimise your performance.

Why Sports Podiatry in a Gym?

If you're training regularly, whether you're lifting weights, running, playing sport, or doing group fitness classes, your feet and lower limbs are your foundation. Pain or biomechanical issues in your feet, ankles, knees, or hips can sideline your training and hold you back from reaching your goals.

Being based in a gym means access to state-of-the-art equipment like treadmills, weights, and functional training tools, allowing us to assess your biomechanics during actual movements rather than just in a clinical setting. This means we can watch you squat, run, jump, or perform sport-specific activities in real-time, identifying issues and testing solutions immediately to ensure treatments work for how you actually move.

Conditions I Treat

I specialise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions, including:

  • Heel pain and plantar fasciitis

  • Achilles tendinopathy and calf strains

  • Shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome)

  • Stress fractures

  • Ankle sprains and instability

  • Knee pain (including patellofemoral pain and runner's knee)

  • Arthritic and joint pain

  • Overuse injuries

  • Running-related injuries

  • Biomechanical and gait issues

  • Complex and chronic pain

  • Sesamoid injuries

  • Turf toe and big toe joint pain

  • Tendon and ligament injuries

What to Expect

Your initial consultation includes a comprehensive assessment to understand your concerns, identify the underlying issue, and develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your goals. Whether you're recovering from injury or looking to optimise performance, I'll work with you to create an evidence-based approach that gets you back to training and performing at your best.

Please note: I focus exclusively on biomechanics and sports-related conditions. I don't provide general podiatry services like nail or skin care, my expertise is in getting you moving better and performing at your best.

Services Offered

  • Comprehensive biomechanical assessments

  • Running gait analysis & assessment

  • Custom orthotic therapy

  • Footwear recommendations

  • Exercise prescription and rehabilitation programs

  • Injection therapy (corticosteroid injections)

  • Imaging review and interpretation (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound)

  • Return-to-sport planning

  • Performance optimisation strategies

About Scott Rayment

I'm driven by a strong desire to help people move comfortably and perform at their best. With extensive experience in multi-disciplinary sports medicine clinics, I've managed complex injuries across both amateur and professional sporting environments, including athletes in Netball (SSN), Basketball (NCAA & NBL1), Soccer (NPL & Women's FIFA), Football (VFL, VFLW & AFL), Golf (VGL), and Australian Athletics.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice. I'm currently completing research investigating first MTP joint (big toe) osteoarthritis on MRI, and I serve as the principal podiatrist in the rooms of a Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon, where I screen and assess complex referred patients. This collaborative work requires a high level of expertise in reading imaging (X-ray, MRI) and diagnosing complex foot and ankle conditions.

I hold an Endorsement for Scheduled Medicines (ESM), which enables me to prescribe medications and administer corticosteroid injections when clinically appropriate, providing comprehensive care without the need for additional referrals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science and Masters in Podiatric Practice

  • Bachelor of Science - Double Major in Immunology & Physiology

  • Endorsement for Scheduled Medicines (ESM)

Professional Memberships:

  • Member of Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine (AAPSM)

  • Member of Sports Medicine Australia (SMA)

  • Member of Australian Podiatry Association (APodA)
